You are invited to submit an abstract for the Committee to consider for presentation at the Bowen Basin Symposium 2025 (BBS 2025), taking place on 15 - 17 September 2025 at the Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre. Please review the descriptions carefully to determine the most suitable format for your submission.
Expectations of abstract submissions:
- Abstracts must be typed in English.
- Abstracts must have a maximum word count of 300 words.
- Authors are welcome to submit multiple abstracts.
- Abstracts should be thoroughly checked for correct spelling and grammar before finalising the submission.
- Presenting authors are required to register (and pay) to be included in the final program.
- Successful abstracts must submit a paper associated with their abstract by the deadline 12 June 2025.
The deadline to submit your abstract is: 23:59 (AEDT) Friday 28 March 2025.

Presentation Types
To make fair comparisons of the quality of submitted abstracts across a wide spectrum of disciplines, it is imperative that the format of a structured abstract be followed. A strict 300-word count will be imposed on the length of the body of the abstract.
Oral Presentation
Peer-reviewed scientific research to be presented in an oral presentation format.
Poster
Peer-reviewed scientific research where the author(s) would like to present their work as a poster but not offered a presentation timeslot in the daily programme.
Rapid Fire Presentation
Three (3) minute or three (3) slide presentation for undergraduates and/or recent post-graduates to get their topical message across.
